Curbing the Negative Effects of Positive Words.

DO NOT LET POSITIVE WORDS TAKE THEIR NEGATIVE TOLL ON YOU.

I watched in horror as the sweet, humble and kind friend I knew transformed into the exact opposite of what she used to be.I could hardly believe that within 3 months of our first year in college Anita had drastically changed for the worse.Distraught,I decided to find out what went wrong....

Here's what I found.

1.Anita,who was noted for her beauty inside and out had caught the attention of many boys in our grade. As a result, she  had been proposed to so many times that she felt like she was up in the clouds when  in actuality, she was heading right for the ground.

2.She had found favor in the eyes of many teachers and hence felt like she was a step ahead of us, her mates. She was wrong. In fact, after her transformation, teachers totally had their perception about her changed.

3.Many sought fashion advice from her due to the admiration they felt for her strong fashion sense and she perceived that to be a sign of their poor fashion sense and inability to reason for themselves...

Wondering how I know all this??
She told me herself. See pride causes a person  to go about blabbering and making known to the world his or her strengths as opposed to the weaknesses of others.Pride causes a person to try in every possible way to make others seem inferior.

To be honest, I was HEARTBROKEN because I knew that although very cliche, pride does go before a fall and I knew that her case would be no exception to that fact if she didn't change early enough.I guess I was right.

A month passed by and Anita had no trace of modesty left within her.It wasn't too long after she was labelled as a "MEAN BEAUTY" and OH!  soon after, the "BEAUTY" was ripped off and replaced with "BULLY"...Well, yes, and it's nothing but the truth.

She had lost ALL her friends but I'm sure she was so blinded by her pride that she didn't realize early enough.Everybody who thought "rude, unkind and arrogant" thought of Anita and the teachers began to hear of several cases in which Anita verbally abused her mates. They'd found out the truth and became cold towards her.Anita became miserable.

Most of  the boys who had proposed to her broke all ties with her and began helping victims of Anita's verbal abuse in  regaining their self esteem. This totally spited her.

Unfortunately, her story did not end up as one with the caption "happy ever after"  but it can be if Anita changes her ways.

Yes, we are made in God's image and we are beautiful but that should not spark any instances of us portraying arrogance and insolence.God has blessed us to be a blessing and when we act like Anita, that is totally not being a blessing.Anita, in the sight of her mates had lost her beauty because they felt like her inner pulchritude and kind heart would be the icing on the cake.....She didn't have the kind heart that would have been the icing-the cake lost it's vital part.

Oh yes, it feels good to get a compliment from someone and it feels good to have people admire you for qualities you possess but it does not feel good when someone makes you feel worthless and unattractive. Please do not do it to others.

Do not be puffed up with pride when complimented but give glory to God and thank Him for blessing you.
